The Sound of Center Church Music is an integral part of services at Center Church. Eleanor Fulton & Kendall Crilly are Center Church's organists and co-directors of music. Together with the choir, they lead our weekly worship services.
The church's musical program is often augmented with unique instruments such as the Richard Rephann harpsichord, and recitals given by students and graduates of the Yale School of Music and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Other local groups, such as The Greater New Haven Community Chorus (GNHCC) also perform and practice at Center Church. Center Church is the host to a number of concerts throughout the year and is available for weddings and other special occassions. Please contact us if you would like any further information.
The history of music at Center Church From 1895 to 1898, Center Church was the home of famous American composer, Charles Ives. He was the full-time organist of the church during his undergraduate years at Yale. He was mentored and influenced by the choirmaster, John Griggs, and was visited in the church by his eventual wife, Harmony Twitchell Ives.
