Jonah 3: 1-5, 10, 4: 1-5: For a second time God commands Jonah to go to the city of Ninevah to preach repentance to the people. Though Jonah does not want to go, because he does not want the people to repent, he finally obeys God. The people do repent, and God is merciful, which only makes Jonah angry!
Mark 1: 14-20: Jesus calls his first disciples.
SERMON: Going Where You Do Not Want to Go: We often think our life should always be about what we want, but sometimes God has very different ideas. Jonah had no interest in going to Nivevah, but despite his resistance to God, he finally did what he was called to do. History is filled with people who resist God, and we are often among the resisters.
