1 Corinthians 15: 12-22: Paul writes to the Christian Church in the city of Corinth and he tells them that if Christ has not been raised from the dead, their faith is in vain. But, he assures them, Christ has been raised, so they can live in the power of that assurance.
Mark 16: 1-8: Mary Magdalene and another Mary go to the tomb and meet there a man in a white robe who tells them that Jesus is not there, because he has been raised. They leave the tomb in great fear and tell no one.
SERMON: A Disappointing Beginning and Ending: Mark's gospel gives us no birth narrative and it lacks a resurrection appearance of Jesus. Mark's gospel originally stopped at verse 8, but someone, probably dissatisfied with the ending, wrote an additional one. So what is Mark doing with this ending, which has the women leave in fear? What is the point?
